Hello everyone..

Gianlucca was born on May 27, 2012, following a healthy pregnancy. His arrival was a dream come true for his parents, Ronan and Chris, and his older sister, Giovanna.

During his first few months, everything seemed normal. But over time, his parents noticed that Gianlucca had difficulty holding up his head and reaching important movement milestones. At first, doctors believed it was only a developmental delay. Soon, however, his condition began to worsen.

During a family trip, Gianlucca developed alarming symptoms. His body became cold, and he struggled to breathe. He was taken to the hospital, where, shortly before being discharged, he suffered cardiac arrest—the first of five episodes he would endure that same week.

Their little warrior was intubated and spent 52 days in intensive care. His parents remained by his side every step of the way. When Gianlucca was finally able to return home, he still depended on a ventilator to breathe, a tracheostomy, and a feeding tube.

On his first birthday, his family received the news no parent should ever have to hear: a DNA test confirmed that Gianlucca had Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1, a rare genetic disease that causes progressive muscle weakness and affects essential abilities such as moving, breathing, and swallowing.

At that time, there was no approved treatment available. Faced with such a devastating diagnosis, Gianlucca’s family could have lost hope. Instead, they turned their fear into courage and began fighting for his life.

Their journey included years of research, awareness campaigns, petitions, public mobilization, long trips, and legal battles. Gianlucca’s family helped bring together thousands of people around the world to advocate for the approval of the first treatment for SMA. Their efforts also helped open doors for other children and adults to gain access to lifesaving medication.

After more than five years of fighting and waiting, the day they had dreamed of finally arrived. On March 9, 2018, Gianlucca received his first dose of treatment. It felt like the beginning of a new life.

Since then, Gianlucca has made meaningful progress. He continues to gain new movements and can now breathe without the assistance of a ventilator for certain periods of time. Every achievement, no matter how small it may seem, is a powerful victory for Gianlucca and his family.

But his journey is far from over.

Gianlucca requires constant care, specialized medical support, therapies, equipment, and a safe environment adapted to his needs. Providing this level of care requires his family’s full-time dedication and significant ongoing financial resources.

That is why we are asking for your help.

Every donation, regardless of the amount, can help Gianlucca continue receiving the care and support he needs. Your generosity can provide greater comfort, safety, independence, and hope to a young boy who has already overcome more challenges than most people face in a lifetime.

By supporting Gianlucca, you are doing more than making a donation. You are becoming part of a story built on love, faith, courage, and an extraordinary determination to live.

Please help Gianlucca continue fighting and writing the next chapters of his story. Every contribution can make a meaningful difference.
